How all-laser LASIK works
A femtosecond laser creates a corneal flap. An excimer laser reshapes the tissue beneath it, and the flap is placed back into position. Numbing drops are used during the procedure.

Who may need a different approach?
Unstable prescription, certain corneal findings, significant dry eye, previous eye disease and some conditions or medicines affecting healing can change the recommendation. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can also affect assessment and timing.

Recovery is a process
Vision may improve early but can fluctuate. Keep the prescribed review visits, follow your drop schedule and avoid rubbing the eyes. Ask when your surgeon permits driving, exercise, swimming and eye makeup.
Plan transport after the procedure and leave room in your travel schedule for follow-up.
Risks and realistic expectations
Possible problems include dry eye, glare, halos, flap complications, infection and residual prescription. Some complications can permanently reduce vision. You may still need glasses or further treatment.

Is LASIK suitable if I have thin corneas?
Not necessarily. Corneal mapping, thickness, treatment amount and other findings must be assessed together.
Will I never need glasses again?
That cannot be promised. Residual prescription, later changes and age-related near vision needs can make glasses useful after surgery.
