Ortho-K uses specially fitted rigid contact lenses worn during sleep to temporarily reshape the front of the eye. It is a contact lens treatment, not an operation or a permanent cure for myopia.
How overnight lenses work
The lens changes the corneal surface while it is worn. The effect is temporary and depends on continued use under the fitting clinician’s instructions. The required wearing schedule and amount of correction vary.
“Dream lens” is a common name for this treatment in Korea. An examination and corneal measurements are needed before a lens can be fitted.
For adults and children
Adults may ask about reducing daytime dependence on glasses or contact lenses. For children, discuss whether Ortho-K is an appropriate part of a myopia management plan and what monitoring will be needed.
Ask about the child’s prescription changes, hygiene ability, family support and alternatives. Treatment suitability cannot be determined from age or prescription alone.
Hygiene is part of the treatment
Overnight lens wear carries a risk of corneal infection. Follow the prescribed cleaning and storage routine and the replacement schedule. Do not use tap water on lenses. Stop lens wear and obtain prompt assessment for pain, redness, light sensitivity or reduced vision.

No. Ortho-K is a removable contact lens worn on the surface of the eye. ICL is surgically implanted inside the eye.
Does the correction last after I stop wearing the lenses?
The corneal reshaping effect is temporary. Discuss what to expect when changing or stopping the wearing schedule.
