SMILE Pro Seoul Korea
SMILE Pro is small incision laser vision correction performed with the ZEISS VISUMAX 800 system. At B&VIIT Eye Center, the decision begins with suitability testing and a discussion of alternatives.
What changes with SMILE Pro?
Like conventional SMILE, the procedure creates a thin piece of tissue within the cornea and removes it through a small opening. It does not create a LASIK flap. The newer platform shortens the laser stage and offers alignment assistance.
A short laser stage is not the total operation or appointment time. Preparation, positioning, tissue removal and postoperative checks still take time. Faster treatment does not promise a better outcome for every eye.
SMILE Pro or conventional SMILE?
| Question | Discuss at your consultation |
|---|---|
| Platform | Conventional SMILE uses the earlier VisuMax system. SMILE Pro uses VISUMAX 800. |
| Suitability | Your prescription and corneal examination matter more than the name of the platform. |
| Cost | Request separate written quotations and ask what is included. |
| Follow-up | Both need postoperative checks and a clear recovery plan. |
What to ask before deciding
- Why is SMILE Pro appropriate for my measurements?
- What benefit would the newer platform offer in my particular case?
- How will my astigmatism and night vision concerns be assessed?
- What are the options if I have a residual prescription?
Recovery and limitations
Functional vision can improve early, but clarity and comfort may fluctuate during healing. Follow the surgeon’s instructions for eye drops, eye protection, work and exercise. Arrange your early review before planning onward travel.
SMILE is surgery: discuss dry eye symptoms, visual disturbances, infection and the possibility of further treatment. Read the preparation and aftercare guide.
Your questions answered
Is SMILE Pro LASIK?
Both correct vision by changing the cornea, but SMILE Pro removes a lenticule through a small incision while LASIK uses a corneal flap.
Does a faster laser mean I can leave Korea immediately?
No. Treatment speed does not remove the need for postoperative examinations. Confirm your travel plan with your surgeon.
Your consultation checklist
Ask why this option fits your examination, what alternatives are reasonable, what the quotation includes and how follow-up will work after you leave Korea.
